Network Rail is proposing to improve the railway between Oxford and Bedford, and Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Princes Risborough by upgrading disused and underused rail track to provide a new rail link between these important conurbations, and provide additional routes and capacity for both passengers and freight.  On completion, this new rail link will connect the Great Western, Chiltern, West Coast and Midland Main Lines of London and become a vital strategic rail link in Britain's rail network.

In September 2015, Network Rail consulted on plans to upgrade and reconstruct existing and mothballed sections of the line linking Bedford-Bicester and Milton Keynes-Princes Risborough as part of the East West Rail Western Section Phase 2 project.  They will require statutory powers under a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) granted by the Secretary of State for Transport in order to construct, maintain and operate the project.

Network Rail have undertaken further development following the first round of consultation and will be holding a second round of consutlation beginning on 30th June and ending on 11th August 2017.

A number of public exhibitions will be held to give local communities and local residents a chance to view their plans and give feedback.  The two closest exhibitions to Marston Moreteyne are detailed below.  The project team will be available at all events to answer any queries.

18th July  12noon to 8pm   Harpur Suite, St. Pauls Square, Bedford, MK40 1SJ

19th July  12noon to 8pm   The Forest Centre, Station Road, Marston Moreteyne, MK43 OPR

The parish council strongly urges residents to attend one of the above exhibitions to understand what impact the proposals will have on the local crossings at Millbrook and Lidlington and to make your views known.
